Burns Scalo Gets Approval To Build 50,000-Square-Foot Piazza Retail Development
Burns Scalo Real Estate Services has been given the go-ahead by South Fayette to build its 50,000-square-foot Piazza retail redevelopment of the former Star City Cinema site it bought from the township for $3.5 million last year.
The company announced that the South Fayette Township Board of Commissioners voted last week to approve the development permit for Burns Scalo, which proposes to build a five-building retail development on the site.
Jim Scalo, CEO of Burns Scalo, said he expects to begin construction on the project in August and to complete it next year, starting first with a new 12,000-square-foot retail building.
“We’ll deliver the product really when the market is coming back next spring or summer,” he said.
Next Architecture is the architect for the project for what is an eight acre site in South Fayette in front of Burns Scalo’s Abele Business Park.
Scalo expects to have a deal in place for a bank branch soon in a project expected to include a mix of restaurants, small retailers and service providers.
