Burns Scalo bets $130 Million on the Future of Office in the Parkway West
PITTSBURGH, PA – Burns Scalo Real Estate announced the official groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of its three-building Diamond Ridge Mixed-Use Campus in Moon Township. The ceremony, on Monday, August 1st, will mark the progressive firm’s biggest bet yet on the impending return to the office.
The primary purpose of an office is no longer to get work done but to serve as a place for connection and community. As momentum for the return-to-work gains steam, companies are recognizing that, for their employees, it must be a magnet, not a mandate.
“We believe that there will be a massive bifurcation between the older, non-amenitized office and newer experiential product,” said Jim Scalo, CEO, of Burns Scalo Real Estate. “We’re making the world of work, work better for people. As the workforce evolves, so do the expectations of the workplace. We firmly believe the imminent return to the workplace will drive material demand for newer, experiential real estate that inspires socialization and growth, particularly within this submarket.”

The groundbreaking building will span 172,000 square feet, surrounded by up to 1,200 new housing units. The design offers 2.5 times more outdoor space than any previously built office in The Parkway West, features integrated indoor/outdoor fitness amenities, including private pickle-ball courts, and uses healthy building principles to set new standards for employee wellness and hospitality.
Diamond Ridge is one of the largest and most exciting mixed-use projects in Western Pennsylvania. The office campus is the cornerstone component of adjacent developments of 118 townhouse units, 323 single-family lots, 400 multifamily units, 336 apartments, and 15,000 square-feet of retail. Diamond Ridge, and the surrounding 800 acres, is designated a strategic economic development node by the Moon Township Board of Supervisors.
The Moon Transportation Authority (“MTA”) is undertaking a 2-phase roadway improvement plan to improve access to and from the site and connectivity to the area roadways and Parkway West interchange. The estimated $15 million roadway improvement plan is underway with construction on the first phase – Montour Run / Marketplace Intersection commencing mid-2023.
The groundbreaking is scheduled for Monday, August 1, 4:00 -7:00pm.
