Burns Scalo Real Estate Hires New President; Eyes National Platform

PITTSBURGH, PA – Burns Scalo Real Estate (BSRE), Pittsburgh’s leading privately owned commercial real estate firm, today announced a new, more growth-focused structure that reflects its high-growth plans and goal of national exposure.

As part of the new structure, Brian Walker will be the firm’s new president. James Scalo will remain CEO and continue his pursuit of BSRE’s vision and financial success. Walker currently serves as the Chair-Elect on the Corporate Board of Directors for NAIOP and will assume the position of Chair of the NAIOP Corporate Board in January 2024. His remarkable 30-year career in accounting, finance, and real estate leadership and role on the NAIOP Corporate board now positions BSRE for its more aggressive growth plans.

In recent years, the Pittsburgh-based firm, known for its high-quality developments and luxury service, has enhanced its market position with organic growth and acquisitions. BSRE announced its Expansion & Diversification Plan, and that it is “now for hire,” earlier this year. Within the past five months alone, it has announced the realignment of its brokerage team to form a new Brokerage Advisory Team, the awarding of three new facilities management contracts, and launched six new construction contracts all outside of its “owned portfolio” – a significant shift from its historical portfolio investments.
