Renovation Completed at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse

July 15, 2024 | NAI Burns Scalo

NAI Burns Scalo’s development and construction team is proud to share news of a recently completed renovation for Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse at The Cascade, on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. After only two weeks of downtime, Hyde Park has reopened its doors, showcasing a stunning transformation that reflects both luxury and meticulous attention to detail.

The 8,200 square foot project, including three private rooms, focused primarily on cosmetic upgrades. On top of the $1 Million+ construction cost for the project, restaurant ownership also spent significant additional money on extra improvements to the furniture, draperies, custom lighting, and artwork within the space – essentially delivering a new restaurant experience.

Key features include:

Chandelier Lighting: The installation of intricate chandelier lighting (with some fixtures boasting over 3,000 individual pieces) casts a warm, inviting glow throughout the space.

Custom Millwork and Wine Racks: Exquisite custom millwork and strategically placed wine racks add to the restaurant’s sophisticated ambiance.

Artistic Ceilings and New Bar: New eye-catching pieces include framed and backlit artwork on the ceiling, as well as a newly designed bar that stands as a central piece, enhancing the dining experience.

Furniture and Upholstery: The addition of new furniture and booths provides both comfort and style, inviting guests to relax and enjoy their meal.

Despite the extensive work involved, the restaurant experienced only a minimal two-week shutdown to renovate the bar area, which can be credited to the detailed planning, pre-ordering, and prefabrication performed by the NAI Burns Scalo team. The balance of work was completed in phases before the restaurant opened each day. The timely reopening was praised by the restaurant’s staff, and the new space was quickly met with enthusiasm from both regular patrons and new visitors.

Long-time manager of the restaurant, Ken Macieski, who has witnessed various changes over the years, praised NAI Burns Scalo’s exceptional work, “I’ve been here 18 years and have had three different landlords. [NAI Burns] Scalo is by far the best. We wouldn’t have considered anyone else to do the job.”

Braden Rowse, Senior Project Manager for NAI Burns Scalo, expressed his pride in the project’s successful completion, “Our team is incredibly happy with what we’ve accomplished here. This renovation not only enhances the dining experience, but it also sets a new standard for our future restaurant projects. We are confident that these changes will help Hyde Park strengthen their presence on the North Shore and also is a showcase for what our construction team’s capabilities are.”

Megan Socol, a member of NAI Burns Scalo’s Client Experience team, shared her excitement about Hyde Park’s refreshed presence at The Cascade. “Having Hyde Park in our building is a tremendous asset. Both our tenants and the stadium traffic absolutely love it. The transformation has only added to its appeal.”

Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse at The Cascade on North Shore Drive

The renovation at Hyde Park is not an isolated project, but rather part of a broader vision for The Cascade and North Shore as a whole. The building has undergone significant change over the past year, welcoming Convive Coffee to the building’s first floor (adjacent to Hyde Park) and signing a notable lease with Edgar Snyder & Associates on the building’s 2nd floor earlier this year. Other additions in the surrounding area that are sure to increase traffic to the neighborhood include the North Shore Flats apartments, Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Bar, Tom’s Watch Bar, and a new outdoor entertainment plaza across the street from PNC Park.

Beyond the renovation at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse, NAI Burns Scalo’s development & construction team was also employed as the general contractor for the newly completed Convive Coffee location in the lobby at The Cascade, and will also take on the 21,000 SF buildout for Edgar Snyder & Associates on the 2nd floor of the building later this fall.
